Born in Israel, Issac Zaks developed an early interest in drawing and studied art
at Beit Zvi in Ramat Gan. His path has never followed a conventional artistic trajectory. He earned a degree in Biology from Ben Gurion University before studying Product Design at Art Center College of Design in California. His background in science and design continues to inform the way he approaches painting, combining observation, structure, curiosity, and imagination. After a long career in product design and creative development, Zaks returned increasingly to fine art, working primarily in watercolor. His current work brings realistically rendered people, objects, architecture, and landscapes into unexpected situations where the familiar becomes improbable. Working from his studio in New Jersey, Zaks explores the space between everyday reality and the worlds we imagine beyond it.
